Admissions Policy Consultation for Entry from September 2027

As the Admissions Authority for Queen Elizabeth’s High School, Gainsborough, the Governing Body has consulted on proposed changes to the school’s Admissions Policy for entry from September 2027. The proposed changes are:

  1. An increase to the school’s Published Admissions Number (PAN) from 186 to 188 in order to meet parents’ aspirations to send their children to QEHS.
  2. Sixth Form entry requirements:
    • Reduction from 42 points across a student’s best 8 subjects at GCSE to a 36 total point score.
    • Subject-specific requirements for A Level study will now be at Grade 6 for all subjects.
    • For new A Level subjects not previously studied at GCSE (Law, Economics, Psychology and Sociology), Grade 5 will be required in GCSE English and Maths and for Economics, Grade 6 in Maths.
    • Further Maths will be the only subject with an entry requirement of Grade 7 in GCSE Maths.
    • A ‘pass grade’ in Maths and English is identified as Grade 4 rather than Grade 5.

The consultation period for the Admissions Policy and proposed changes detailed above will run from Friday 10 October 2025 to Friday 21 November 2025. If you would like to comment on the changes, please email [email protected].

After the closing date, responses will be collated and presented to the Governing Body. The Governing Body will decide whether or not to proceed with the proposed changes. Once determined, the final Admissions Policy will be published on the school’s website.
